Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of WhoIsMoth, operated by the operator of WhoIsMoth. By using WhoIsMoth you agree to them.

Review needed: governing law, venue, liability limits, consumer-rights carve-outs and the minimum user age depend on your jurisdiction and your customers’. Have these terms reviewed by a qualified lawyer before launch.

What WhoIsMoth is

WhoIsMoth ranks accounts that recur in recommendation lists you record yourself. It is an independent service, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Instagram or Meta. It does not access private following lists, private messages, or any non-public Instagram data.

Experimental results

The Recommendation evidence score is an experimental heuristic based only on the suggestion captures you record. It has not been validated, is not a probability, and may be wrong. A recommendation or a high score is not confirmation that anyone followed anyone, recently or at all, and says nothing reliable about relationships or private behaviour. You must not rely on results to make decisions about another person.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use WhoIsMoth to:

• stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or monitor a person who has not agreed to it, including a current or former partner;
• make accusations, or take action against anyone, based on results;
• record data you cannot legitimately see, or submit passwords, cookies, tokens, or private messages;
• automate requests, scrape WhoIsMoth, or try to bypass rate limits or access controls;
• break the law or Instagram’s terms.

We may delete reports and refuse service where we believe these rules are broken.

Your account and reports

Reports are tied to your browser. If you clear cookies or switch devices, you may lose access to a report; we cannot restore it without the original browser. Reports are deleted after the retention period described in the Privacy Policy.

Payment

Unlocking a report costs a one-time fee, currently shown on the site, charged by Gumroad. The fee applies to one report. Access is granted only after Gumroad confirms the sale to our server. Refunds are covered by the Refund Policy.

No warranty

WhoIsMoth is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, fitness for a purpose, and uninterrupted availability.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to WhoIsMoth is limited to the amount you paid for the report concerned. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be shown on this page with a new date.
